I realize that my East Coast–based friends and relatives will mock me for this statement, but this winter’s darkest moment has arrived for me — that moment when the rain just won’t let up and the year’s shortest month suddenly seems interminable. Cozy food and drink are my two favorite coping mechanisms, and today I can happily suggest pairing those two pastimes with a healthy dose of socializing at a local wine event that’s sure to be a good time.
The 8th Annual Pinot Noir Summit takes place Saturday, February 27, at the Osher Marin Jewish Community Center in San Rafael. A full day and evening of events kicks off at 12 noon with the Pinot Noir Showdown: a blind tasting (conducted by experts and laymen alike) of 40 highly rated Pinot Noirs, with winners announced at an 8 p.m. awards ceremony.
